Pol Valera, the survivor of the last top-10 scorers

The exodus of the best players from the Asobal League to the main European leagues continued this summer, and nine of the ten top scorers from the last championship will not continue their career in Spain.

The only survivor of the “top ten” scorers is the Spanish international Pol Valera (sixth top scorer with 154 goals), who last May extended his relationship with Fraikin Granollers until 2024, just six months after he debuted with the senior team in a friendly match against Romania.

The Catalan team, however, could not retain the first row Chema Márquez. The man from Madrid will undertake a new adventure in the French Saint-Rapahel, where he arrives after proclaiming himself, for the third time in his career, Asobal’s top scorer with 206 goals.

There were six more than the winger of Ademar Gonzalo Pérez Arce, another of those who has decided to pack his bags. He signed until 2024 with Polish side Wisla Plock.

The Brazilian Thiago Alves Ponciano, top scorer in the history of Ciudad Encantada and fourth in the last championship, also says goodbye to Asobal to play in the French league with US Créteil.

There he will meet up with David Iglesias, who rejected Frigoríficos del Morrazo’s renewal offer to join Limoges, directed by Alberto Entrerrios.

The left-back said goodbye to the Cangués team, being the fourth highest scorer in the last league (157).

Frigoríficos also placed winger Dani Fernández (147), signed by Bundesliga side Stuttgart, in the top ten.

In the team led by the Spaniard Roi Sánchez, he will coincide with another of the promises of national handball, the right winger Jorge Serrano, who was decisive with his 155 goals for Atlético Valladolid to stay in the top flight.

Agustín Casado, sixth top scorer with 153 goals, and Nacho Vallés, ninth with 144 goals, are also leaving Logroño and Benidorm, respectively. The first will play a season in the German Melsungen before joining Veszprém; the second will go to Poland (Azoty Pulawy).
